"Echoes of the Silk Road in the heart of India."

OSMAN BATUR

Today, the Indian Uyghur Society joins the global Turkic community in solemn remembrance of Osman Batur, the "Eagle of Altay," who was martyred on this day, April 29, 1951. A fearless leader and a symbol of unyielding resistance, Osman Batur dedicated his life to the freedom of East Turkestan. Captured by the PLA in the Hami district and eventually executed in Urumqi, he remained defiant until his last breath. "I may die, but my nation will continue their struggle so long as the world continues to exist." His words continue to echo through the mountains of Altay and into the hearts of every Uyghur and Kazakh seeking justice today. His martyrdom is not just a date in history; it is a reminder of the price of dignity and the enduring spirit of our people.
