SRINAGAR — The Indian Uyghur Society (IUS) extends its warmest wishes to the people of India and communities around the world on the joyous occasion of Holi, the "Festival of Colors." As families gather to splash water and sprinkle vibrant powders on one another, this celebration of spring, love, and the triumph of good over evil resonates deeply with the spirit of hope and renewal cherished by all people.
Holi's kaleidoscope of colors mirrors the rich cultural heritage of East Turkistan, where vibrant expression has long been a hallmark of our identity. Just as Holi transforms people’s resemblance with bright hues, Uyghur culture is renowned for its colorful, exquisite dresses and scarves worn by women, and the distinctive chapan sported by men. For us, color is a symbol of life, joy, and resilience—values that connect our communities across borders and shared traditions.
"On this special occasion, the Indian Uyghur community wishes everyone a very happy Holi," said Wasim Abdullah, President of the Indian Uyghur Society. "May the colors of this festival bring brightness, harmony, and prosperity to everyone’s lives, and may the spirit of celebration strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Uyghur and Indian peoples."
As we celebrate today, let the vivid colors of Holi remind us of the beauty of diversity and the shared human desire for a world filled with light, peace, and freedom.
