SRINAGAR — On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights, the Indian Uyghur Society (IUS) extends warmest greetings to all Hindu brothers and sisters across India and around the world. Diwali, celebrated as the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, is a powerful reminder that truth, justice, and compassion ultimately prevail.
As families light diyas, share sweets, and come together in joy, the Indian Uyghur community reflects on the enduring hope that East Turkistan too will one day emerge from the shadows of oppression into the light of freedom, dignity, and peace. The spirit of Diwali resonates deeply with Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples who continue to face persecution, cultural erasure, and systematic violations of their most basic human rights in their homeland.
“The message of Diwali gives strength to all oppressed peoples,” said Wasim Abdullah, President of the Indian Uyghur Society. “Just as darkness cannot extinguish even a single flame, no regime can forever suppress the human desire for freedom and justice. We join our Hindu brothers and sisters in praying that the light of Diwali reaches every corner of the world, including East Turkistan.” Established press release practices encourage pairing festive messages with a clear value-based statement that connects communities and highlights shared hopes.
The Indian Uyghur Society wishes everyone a very happy, peaceful, and prosperous Diwali and calls on people of conscience to celebrate not only with lights and festivities, but also with renewed commitment to human rights, solidarity, and the defense of all communities struggling against injustice.
