SRINAGAR — The Indian Uyghur Society (IUS) joins the people of India in celebrating the nation’s 76th Republic Day, a historic occasion that marks the adoption of the Constitution and the establishment of India as a sovereign, democratic republic. On this day of national pride, the Indian Uyghur Diaspora extends its warmest greetings and solidarity to our Indian brothers and sisters, honoring the visionaries who secured India’s freedom and laid the foundation for its democratic future.
“As the Indian Uyghur Diaspora, we celebrate the Republic Day of India with great joy and respect,” said Wasim Abdullah, President of the Indian Uyghur Society. “We wish for a strong and united India forever—a nation that stands as a global beacon of democracy, diversity, and resilience.”
For the Uyghur people, witnessing India’s celebration of its republic evokes a profound yearning for the restoration of our own sovereign state. Just as India overcame colonial rule to chart its own destiny, the people of East Turkistan remain steadfast in our struggle to reclaim our independence and re-establish the East Turkistan Republic. We look to India’s history as a powerful reminder that the will of a people cannot be suppressed forever and that the dawn of freedom will eventually break through the darkest night of occupation.
The Indian Uyghur Society reaffirms its commitment to the shared values of liberty, justice, and self-determination. As India marches forward in strength and unity, the Uyghur community stands with it, drawing inspiration for the day when we, too, can celebrate our own Republic Day in a free and independent East Turkistan.
