About East Turkistan

East Turkistan's Geography
East Turkistan's People
East Turkistan is a vast, landlocked country in Central Asia, covering 1,828,418 square kilometers. The country features towering mountain ranges, including the Tengri Tagh and Qurum, as well as the Taklamakan Desert. Its rivers, basins, and historic oases have supported civilization for thousands of years and connected East Turkistan with neighboring regions, including India, through trade and cultural exchange.
For over 6000 years, East Turkistan has been the ancestral homeland of ethnically Turkic peoples, including Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, and others. While official Chinese figures list the population at 25.87 million, independent estimates, excluding Chinese colonists, place the true population at over 40 million. Uyghurs are the largest ethnic group, numbering over 30 million, followed by Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, and Mongols.

East Turkistan's Struggle
China has occupied East Turkistan since late 1949. Since 2014, millions of Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, and other Turkic peoples have faced genocide, mass internment, and crimes against humanity. The country continues to suffer from illegal occupation, colonization, and cultural destruction. The East Turkistan struggle is rooted in decolonization, independence, and the right to self-determination.
